Legislation tracking files, 1918-1919.

"The State Board of Health shall have general control over the enforcement of laws relating to public health." The department's primary goal is to initiate and implement preventative medical programs (Ala. Code 22-1-702 [1907]). This series documents the agency's work in drafting public health bills to expand the department's functions and its efforts to get the bills passed by the legislature. These records consist of letters regarding the bills, drafts of the bills, pamphlet acts as printed by the legislature, and speeches made in the legislature regarding the bills.
